Sparks Energy Inc. to Donate Talladega Sponsorship to PFK Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research9/28/2018 Mooresville, NC – An off weekend for the NASCAR XFINITY Series? Not for Gase. He announced earlier today that he will be pulling double duty at Talladega Superspeedway teaming up with StarCom Racing for 1000Bulbs.com 500 in the #00 and Copp Motorsports in the #83 truck for the Fred's 250 powered by Coca-Cola. It will be Gase's fourth race with StarCom Racing this season and second time with the team at Talladega. However, it will be Gase's first ever start in the Truck Series. Gase is bringing along his NXS primary sponsor and Alabama native company, Sparks Energy Inc., on his #00 Chevrolet Camaro and #83 Chevrolet Silverado. A Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series ride and Camping World Truck Series at the famed Talladega for Gase is always something special; but what he and Sparks Energy Inc are doing makes these rides even more special than most. Sparks Energy will be donating their sponsorship to the Prayers For Kayleigh Foundation for pediatric cancer research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The PFK Foundation was founded by the McClendon Family to help raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research after their daughter, Kayleigh, lost her battle to terminal brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG) at the tender age of 7. Sparks Energy is reaching out to the community to help find associate sponsors to come aboard the PFK Foundation #00 and the #83. However, 100% of the sponsorship proceeds will be donated to the PFK Foundation for DIPG research. If you would like to come on board to support this great cause, please email [email protected] or [email protected]. "We are thrilled to partner with Sparks Energy again at Talladega Superspeedway," said Bill Woehlemann, StarCom Racing CFO. "We are excited to have Joey behind the wheel once again and looking forward to what we can do in the PFK Foundation #00 Chevy." About the Prayers for Kayleigh Foundation: From the moment Kayleigh was diagnosed with DIPG our family was surrounded with amazing supporters. From our family, to our town, to our amazing medical team at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - we have been blessed. Now, it is our turn to honor our precious girl's memory and give back. The PFK Foundation is Kayleigh's legacy, a legacy of hope, joy, and a brighter future for all children fighting cancer. Our primary objective is to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Currently, we are partnering with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help fund new DIPG research, as well as give back to the community that has so graciously cared for us. Together we can make a difference! Manufacturer: Chevrolet Engine: RO7 The NASCAR circuit has seen its fair share of road courses throughout the years; but none like the ROVAL. This weekend will be the inaugural running of the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The combination of the oval and the road course will present many challenges for everyone. The 2.85 mile track includes 30 feet of elevation change to go with 17 different turns. The NASCAR XFINITY Series had not had a single second of testing on the track leading up to the weekend. However, NASCAR allowed two 2-hour practice session yesterday afternoon that were optional for teams to run. Gase was able to go out and get some laps in to get himself familiar with the new track and prepare for the 55 lap dash to the checkered on Saturday. Crew Chief: Patrick Donahue Manufacturer: Chevrolet Engine: RO7 News & Notes: After the race getting washed out until Monday in Indy and then having to head out west to the hot desert sun in Las Vegas; it's definitely been a crazy couple weeks for Gase and the Go Green Racing team. However, they've made the most of it by putting together two straight top 15's matching their season best finishes. Now the team is preparing their Donate Life Virginia Chevy for a Friday night showdown at Richmond Raceway. The team returns to Richmond after finishing 22nd at the track back in April. Gase announced yesterday that Donate Life Virginia is coming on board as the primary sponsor for the Go Bowling 250. Gase has worked with Donate Life Virginia the past six years when the series has come to town. "I’m excited to have Donate Life Virginia on board with us again this weekend. They are a great partner of ours but most importantly they do a GREAT job of raising awareness for donation and honoring all of those affected by it," Gase commented in a previous release. It's also a big weekend for one of Gase's associate sponsors, Eternal Fan, as they launch their new Fan Memories™ program at the track. They will be unveiling the World's Largest Racing Piston Thursday morning in which Gase will be in attendance to sign autographs and meet fans. Gase added, "It's going to be a great weekend for us and our friends at Eternal Fan™ as they launch their new Fan Memories™ program. We're excited to be apart of the unveiling of the Piston and this epic weekend." This weekend will be a one day show for the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Richmond Raceway. First practice begins Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET with final practice beginning at 10:10 a.m. ET. Live coverage of both practice sessions will be streaming on the NBC Sports App. TV/Radio: The Go Bowling 250 can be seen live on Friday, September 21st on NBCSN. Mike TessmerPublic Relations / Marketing You may be familiar with NASCAR driver Joey Gase’s passion to educate the community about organ, eye, and tissue donation. This weekend Gase is partnering with Donate Life Virginia to continue his passion as he heads to Richmond, Virginia for a Friday night showdown at Richmond Raceway. This will be the 6th year Gase has partnered with DLV when he has traveled to the area. “I’m excited to have Donate Life Virginia on board with us again this weekend. They are a great partner of ours but most importantly they do a GREAT job of raising awareness for donation and honoring all of those affected by it,” said Gase. This weekend you will find a special passenger on Gase’s XFINITY ride, AJ Janosko. AJ was a proud husband and father of two boys. He tragically passed away at the age of 45 after falling and hitting his head while vacationing in Florida. He made the courageous decision to donate his organs which ultimately saved the lives of five individuals. AJ’s picture will be placed on the TV panel of Gase’s NASCAR XFINITY Series #35 this weekend. The Janosko family will also join Joey and his Go Green Racing team at the track Friday evening for the Go Bowling 250. Las Vegas, NV - After a crazy weekend in Indianapolis Go Green Racing would head out west to the Sin City for the second and final time of the 2018 campaign. With the rain pushing the race in Indy to Monday it created a very short week for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The haulers would park Friday morning and the weekend's on track activity would get started with two practice sessions on Friday afternoon. Gase and the team would try to find the balance in the car all afternoon. At the end of the final practice on Friday evening they would make improvements but Gase's final run he said that the Sparks Energy Inc Chevy was still a little too tight. He would end up with the 22nd fastest lap.
The team made some great improvements from final practice to qualifying as Gase would make the second round once again ending round one in 14th. He would put down two more laps and ultimately get Go Green Racing's season best qualifying run. He would start Saturday's DC Solar 300 from the 17th position. Indianapolis, IN - Mother Nature had different plans for the NASCAR XFINITY Series this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With torrential down pours on both Friday afternoon and Saturday morning the officials cancelled practice and pushed the Lilly Diabetes 250 to Monday morning. With practice and qualifying cancelled, they weren't sure what to expect but Joey would take to green flag from the 21st position in the Sparks Energy Inc Chevrolet.
After the long wait, Gase was ready to take on Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 5th time and for his 200th career NASCAR XFINITY Series race. With the wet conditions from the weekend NASCAR had schedule a competition caution for the field on lap 10 of the 100 lap race. The field stayed under green from the start all the way to the competition caution. Under the caution Gase reported that his Sparks Energy Chevy Camaro was pretty decent, but he was just a little snug up off. So with those notes provided CC Donahue ordered Gase to bring it to pit road for fresh tires, fuel and a left front shock adjustment. He would restart from the 23rd position. Manufacturer: Chevrolet Engine: RO7 News & Notes: After notching himself his best career finish at Darlington Raceway, Gase and Go Green Racing head to Indianapolis to take on the Brickyard. The NASCAR XFINITY Series will be going back to the aero and restrictor plate package this weekend that the series ran at Pocono and Michigan. This package they will run was first used in last years Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indy giving it its nickname "The Indy Package." The team will look to improve on their 19th place finish at Pocono Raceway back in June with this same package. Darlington, SC - It was a hot weekend for the Go Green Racing team at Darlington Raceway. The team kicked off NASCAR Throwback weekend with two practice sessions on Friday afternoon. The Agri Supply / Sparks Energy Chevrolet was tight most of the afternoon so they were working on freeing Gase up during both sessions. Qualifying came around on Saturday morning and Gase said that in his two lap run it was way better than it was all day in practice the day before. He made the second round with the lap time he put down and ended up qualifying in 19th.
The Agri Supply / Sparks Energy team was geared up and ready to take on the Lady in Black for NASCAR throwback weekend. The green flag waved and the Sports Clips VFW 200 was underway in the hot and humid Darlington, South Carolina. Just three laps in, the race would see it's first caution for the #60 of Austin Cindric getting turned coming off of turn 4. On the short three lap run Gase had said he was loose. Knowing that the track would tighten up as the day would progress CC Patrick Donahue replied "Perfect!" They would go back to green on lap 9 and would stay under green for the remaining 36 laps of stage one. |
